Image editing software

  • Photoshop - This is the leading image editing software from adobe. many photographers and designer use it. It is very powerful, and gives great control, however it costs big dollars.

  • The Gimp - The gimp is Photoshop's biggest rival - an open source project (that means free, yippee) that gives great control and is almost as powerful as Photoshop.

  • Nikon Capture NX - This software is Nikon's answer to adobe's photoshop. With intuitive U-Point interface, Nikon Capture NX is very easy to grasp and use. If you are a Nikon user you will also enjoy the native NEF support. If you are just starting to edit your micro stock images, this is the software for you.

  • Andrea Mosaic - create cool Mosaics in the style of Jim Carrey's The Truman Show. - OK, so this is not strictly stock photography - but it is very cool

  • Neat Image - Neat image is a great friend to the digital micro stock photographer - it will reduce noise nicely with not much damage to details. It also has a great Photoshop plug-in
