Ok, so you have a few images, and you are selling well, you are getting hungry. Here is a nice way to boost your image sales.
Every year has holidays (trust me, I've double checked this). There are a few things related to almost all the holidays no matter if Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Irish or just about any other celebrating group you can think of.
One of the things that bind holidays together is the need to greet each other. Lots of peoples are sending out personalized greeting cards and greeting mails. Your micro stock images can be on those cards. This is even more true for the business community. Buisnesses are sendng our hundreds of cards on few ocasions a year. They also publish their parties, gatherings, and annual meetings. All those publications need images.
The other thing that happens when holidays come is SALES (sales, sales, sales...). New products are being released, new sales campaign are lunched, and stores knows that this is the time of year people will spend more money in their stores (or sites).
So, you ask, what does it have to do with my image sales? The answer is simple - if you have photographs that are related to holidays, when holidays come, you will sale.
Take a look at two categories each from a different sock agency - Christmas category @ bigstockphoto and St Patrick category @ featurepics. You can easily the enormous number of pictures on those categories. Most micro stock image sites have categories for just about any holiday you can think of. take advantage of that.
OK, OK, I guess you got it by now holiday images are good for business, but when to take them? I recommend preparing a batch of holiday images about 1.5 to 2 months before the holiday starts. when is that? You can use the Earth Calendar to see all the holidays in the world.
Is there any color associated with the holiday? Try and use that color - red for valentines day, green for St. Patrick, red, white and blue for the 4th of July... you get the picture.
Are there any objects associated with the holiday? symbolic objects of holidays are great sales makers - Christmas stocking, Hanukkah's menorah, thanksgiving's turkey, St. Patrick's Clover. This list can go on forever.
Take pictures of people celebrating the holiday - dining together, blessing over candles, drinking together, of following the holiday's rituals.
See for example how this simple image of a Christmas ball by Freddyp gained popularity on Dreamsite
All that is left to say now is, Happy holidays.
